Basic Approach
We, PILOT and the PILOT Group, believes that it is our corporate social responsibility to improve value and contribute to the development of a sustainable society through our business activities.
We will keep working to maintain and improve the environment and society, recognizing that our business activities are only possible when people in society can live with peace of mind.

Health management plus health and safety initiatives
The PILOT Group is committed to creating a safe and comfortable working environment with consideration for the health of our Group employees, and is continually improving our efforts.
Stress checks
At PILOT, there are stress checks of all employees during regular health checkups and we provide consultations with industrial physicians for any employee who asks. We believe this approach is vital for promoting the mental health of our employees.
Initiatives to promote health
We make every effort to improve the health of our Group employees in Japan, working together with the PILOT Health Insurance Association, which is responsible for our health insurance.
The walking campaign started in 2014 by the Association as one way to encourage exercise. The goal of this campaign is for participants to reach a targeted number of steps while using a walking map to manage their progress over two months. Many domestic employees of the PILOT Group in Japan now take part.
The walking campaign was initially expected to supplement employees’ exercise programs, but it did more. Many employees discovered other effects: improved walking as well as better mental and physical health, communication with colleagues and family, and the rediscovery of local attractions.
We have also established an external mental and phyical health consultation office to promote activites to support better health.
Conducting employee surveys
We conduct motivation surveys every month and employee satisfaction surveys every year to promote mutual understanding and communication between employees and the Company.
We have introduced a system that allows employees to take aptitude tests at any time to deepen their self-understanding and create an opportunity for them to think about their careers.
Establishing safety and health committees
We set up safety and health committees at major business sites in Japan so that the Company and employees can work together to create a safe, comfortable working environment. The Hiratsuka Plant was recognized for many years of safe operation by receiving an incentive award from the Kanagawa Labor Bureau.
Respect for human rights
One initiative to protect the human rights of every PILOT and PILOT Group employee and to improve the workplace environment is setting up whistleblower and internal audit systems.
Achieving work-life balance
We introduced several ways of working, such as flextime, a discretionary work system, and remote working to create an environment where diverse employees can maximize their abilities and always play an active role.
In addition to providing various leave systems, in recent years we have introduced a system for taking paid leave by the hour. We encourage employees to take paid leave, allowing them to achieve a work-life balance.
Promoting the participation of women
PILOT has released an action plan based on the Act on Promotion of Women’s Participation and Advancement in the Workplace.
We set the goal of increasing the percentage of female hires to 50%, and we are working to promote more active participation by women by creating a hiring plan and raising awareness in the workplace.
To allow employees to balance work and child-rearing, PILOT introduced a reduced working-hour system for the parents of children up to the third grade in elementary school.
We are determined to raise awareness of a range of systems related to child-rearing, with the goal of creating a cooperative environment for all employees, for example by encouraging employees of all genders to take childcare leave.
Human resource development
Human resource development is crucial for us. It is the foundation of our operations, so we have established an array of education and training systems to develop employees who accept diversity, think and act on their own with an awareness of global standards, and that help to build value. We are engineering an environment where everyone can speak freely, where teams are strengthened by employee growth, and where everyone can achieve their dreams.
Training by level or job
Our human resources education is centered on on-the-job training (OJT) during the doing work. This is combined with and complemented by off-the-job training and education (OFF-JT) for things that are difficult to cover during daily work as well as self-development. Together, these elements create an environment where employees can grow.
Level-specific training provides the basic knowledge and necessary management skills required at each level as employees advance through their careers. Job-specific training gives employees the opportunity to acquire the knowledge and skills required for their job plus the necessary systematic and theoretical thinking skills.
Reskilling support (Self-development system)
To support self-development, we encourage all employees to expand their career possibilities in several ways, such as through correspondence courses and e-learning.
We also provide support for employees to acquire qualifications and boost their skills to acquire the capacities necessary for their work, and for expanding the career possibilities of every employee.
